Farm Worker NEW Fan Drive - Last Call! | St. John's Episcopal Church

'Til this Sunday, June 24
Summer is hot. But have you ever felt cultivating-grapes-for-12-hours-in-the-August-sun-hot? Farm laborers on Long Island are in need of a lot of things, but simple, breeze-making fans in an un-airconditioned room can make all the difference. Young people from our church will visit migrant laborers on the East End of Long Island, to deliver donated fans and see how these folks live and work.

If you would like to donate a NEW fan (any size) or make a donation that would be used to purchase new fans, please drop these off at St. John's by Sunday morning, June 24.

News

St. John's Episcopal Church was the first religious institution to be established in Cold Spring Harbor. The first Episcopalian services were held in the little 18th century school house just above the site of the present church. The very first Vestry minutes, written in fine script on September 4, 1831, lists the founders who pledged $2,000 to build a new church.

Like our lives, our church community is a gift from God we neither earn nor deserve, and yet, it is ours. We are responsible for caring for it, for nourishing it, and for participating in the ever outpouring gift of God's grace which we share through our actions together. We are stewards of these gifts for as long as we live, and we steward the gift of this church so that future generations will have the opportunity to receive God’s grace and put it into action.

Our whole life and ministry is “Grace in Action.”
